EEG Technologist

In this role, the EEG Technologist will be responsible for performing EEG procedures to assist in
the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. Your role will involve preparing patients
for EEG tests, applying electrodes, monitoring EEG recordings, and ensuring the accuracy and
quality of data collected.

Essential Job Functions including, but not limited to:

  • Takes the patient’s medical history including current medications, gathers descriptions
    of recent episodes for seizures and any concerns regarding the patient including why
    they were ordered an EEG.
  • Obtains signed patient consent and insurance forms and scans into patient chart.
  • Prepare patients for EEG procedures, explaining the process of the procedure.
  • Apply electrodes to specified locations on the patient's scalp according to the
    International 10-20 System for electrode placement.
  • Set up EEG equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration for accurate
    recordings.
  • Monitor EEG recordings during procedures, adjusting equipment settings as necessary
    to obtain clear data.
  • Assist neurologists in analyzing EEG recordings, identifying abnormalities, and
    documenting findings.
  • Reports any pertinent findings to the Epileptologist promptly including urgent findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of EEG procedures, including patient information, test results,
    and any pertinent observations and enter into patient charts in ECW.
  • Provide support and reassurance to patients during EEG procedures, ensuring their
    comfort and safety throughout.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of EEG equipment to ensure proper
    functioning and longevity.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations, protocols, and safety standards to maintain a safe
    and compliant work environment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including neurologists, nurses, and
    administrative staff, to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Uploads all data from ambulatory studies to the main server, prunes data to a second file with samples of normal findings and abnormal findings including video samples and creates all EEG reports including basic findings and clinical events for the Epileptologist.
  • Staff education about history taking when a patient suffers a seizure, types of seizure, and seizure safety.
  • Keeps and maintains storage for EEG data and maintains space for studies and pull up and transfer any previous studies from the archived drives.
  • Obtain prior authorization for 72- hour ambulatory video EEG studies when necessary.
  • Schedules all 72-hour EEGs with the patients.
  • Calls patients when directed by the providers regarding any patient concerns.
  • Troubleshoots all equipment in the EEG lab including scanners, printers, and computers.
  • Orders supplies including linen needed for the lab and keeps lab stocked.
  • Developing standards and process improvement strategies.

Required Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as neuroscience, physiology, or
    healthcare technology.
  • Certification as an EEG Technician is highly preferred.
  • CPR Certified

Skill, Licensure and Knowledge Requirements: 

  • Proficiency in operating EEG equipment and software (EEG Registration/certification from ABRET preferable), with the ability to
    troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  • Ability to accurately apply electrodes and monitor EEG recordings to ensure
    high-quality data collection.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot technical problems, as well as recognize
    abnormalities in EEG recordings.
  • Prior experience working in a neurology or healthcare setting, particularly with
    EEG procedures, is advantageous but not necessarily required.

Physical Demands:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • May require extended periods of standing and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Lifting or moving of ill or injured patients

Medical Assistant

We are currently hiring a medical assistant for a full-time position. In this role you are a versatile and valuable addition to our office practice.

As a medical assistant you are one of the first points of contact for our patients. Your knowledge of patients’ personal and medical histories, and your assistance to our providers play a major role in patient care; while helping to ensure the smooth flow of the practice and that our providers have the information and tools they need.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patient in a kind and cautious manner
  • Place patient into exam room and perform patient intake. Review medical history, take vitals and document into medical chart for provider to review.
  • Assess medical needs as well as medical education needs of the patient as directed by the provider
  • Help to maintain the fax inbox
  • Assist in injection medication needs as directed by provider
  • Regularly empty and replace sharps container bins. Properly dispose of full bins and get ready for pick up by hazardous waste company
  • Request any previous records/imaging/labs for patient’s prior to scheduled appointment.
  • Properly document all encounters with patients and forward encounters to proper staff in a timely manner.
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties as directed by the provider
  • Stock, clean and maintain provider exam rooms
  • Perform prior authorization for requested imaging and miscellaneous drugs at the request of the provider
  • Provide instruction and educate patient on lab and diagnostic imaging and medication refill instruction
  • Properly handle any voicemails including script line(RX-refills).

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • 1+ years of receptionist/phone experience combined with general office skills and computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications. ECW experience a must!!!

Medical Receptionist

As a medical receptionist you are the first face or voice our patients will see or hear. You will be responsible for providing assistance to patients, doctors, office employees, and other individuals to ensure a smooth process and create a warm and inviting environment for a very busy neurological practice.

  • Provide excellent customer service in greeting and the check-in of patients. This includes obtaining accurate patient demographic information, patient registration, and checking insurance eligibility.
  • Obtain copy of patient’s insurance card, official identification, co-pays and HIPPA acknowledgment form.
  • Ability to answer a high volume of phone calls and provide a timely response to patient inquiries for a very busy neurology practice.
  • Process patient check-out and schedule any follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Collect co-pays and payments.
  • Receive mail, and sort and deliver to appropriate parties.
