Cara Burdette

Cara is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Psychology from Worcester State College in 2000, and received her M.S. in Communication Disorders from Emerson College in 2002.

She has over 20 years of experience as a medical SLP, working primarily with adults within inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings. Cara’s areas of focus include acquired speech, language, voice and swallowing disorders stemming from a wide variety of etiologies. She is a certified provider of LSVT-LOUD, with over 10 years of experience delivering LOUD to her clients.

Cara has special clinical interests in aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication impairments and dysphonia. She has worked with a wide variety of neurologic populations including patients with multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson disease, various forms of dementia, head injury, muscular dystrophy, and more.

She has a strong belief that communication, aside from being a basic skill, provides us with quality of life; that meaningful conversation is at the heart of connecting with others. She is eager to help each patient and their caregivers find ways to better communicate, reconnect, and increase independence.
